Dear animal welfare supporters everywhere, a warning:
I used to donate monthly to a supposed organization called Animals Voice Romania (previously Chancy Pet, now Thriving Animals... why does the name keep changing? Read on.)
It is headed by a woman who goes by Bumbac Alina Florentina. I eventually came to suspect that this "organization" doesn't really exist and BAF is a fraud, a thief, and I stopped donating.
THIS IS ONLY MY PERSONAL OPINION. If you think she's legit and want to donate, that is certainly your choice. I don't have 100 percent proof (I have not flown to Romania to check it out myself.) However I recently saw Facebook posts -- which have since been removed -- on BAF's NEW organization's Facebook page "Thriving Animals" regarding some English animal welfare organization investigating her, and, given her defensiveness and "I refuse to answer any more questions", presumably finding she is a fraud.
Interesting that her starting the new organization coincided with being investigated ... they've got her on the run again? Time to reinvent herself again?
I wish I could tell you specifically why I originally decided I believe she and her org are a fraud but if I do, I'm teaching her what she needs to know to become a better fraudster. You have the same access to info that I had. Do some critical thinking & research & compare her to orgs that you're sure are legit. Put her to the test; challenge her. See what happens. Vs. what you'd expect to happen with a legit organization.
I stopped sending her a portion of my hard-earned money every month and am instead sending it to places where I'm much more certain that it's actually being used to alleviate and prevent animals' suffering.

FYI she also goes by "Alina Alinab". If you search for her name & org in Facebook sometimes you can come up with a post in Oct 2013 (I think), in Romanian but translatable into English, describing in detail that she is a fraud.
